ABSTRACT

Measurement and evaluation of rheological parameters for simulation of injection molding processes are discussed. Prediction limits especially for minimal necessary machine pressure as well as temperature development of mixtures are shown to origin in thermo-rheological effects not fully taken into account via measurement interpretation. A concept for consistent evaluation of rheological parameters by simulation of high pressure capillary measurement is proposed and resulting corrections of flow curves, as given by shear rate dependency of viscosity are estimated.
