ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to illustrate something of the richness and diversity of the tools to support chemical risk management that are currently found in different countries and sectors, as well as to provide some concrete examples of their operation. The basis of selection is the extent to which these tools take some account of the nature of the problem of managing chemical risks in small enterprises and are related to current regulatory strategies and the actors and infrastructures that support them. Additionally, attention is paid to tools that seem likely to lend themselves most successfully to operationalizing EU influences such as those promulgated by REACH.
