ABSTRACT

The safer and healthier use of chemical substances is the desired outcome of chemical risk management. Clearly, it is important to know how successful the strategies and tools described in previous chapters are in helping to achieve and sustain this outcome. There are a limited number of studies measuring the success, sustainability and transferability of current approaches, and this chapter reviews what can be learned from these concerning the factors that seem to promote success in the implementation of support for chemical risk management in small firms. It identifies considerable gaps in current knowledge and suggests a need to gain greater and more systematic understanding of the issues involved.
