ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of the book. This book is meant to inform, entertain, and educate. Those who have encountered a death will become cognizant of what to expect at the funeral home when they come in to make arrangements and prepare for visitations and the funeral. The families who live in the funeral home share the stress of what living around death entails. The disappointment of missed vacations, the lack of privacy, and the necessity of being quiet during visitations and funerals are disclosed. The book discusses the issues of dealing with the trauma of death and describes what funeral home family members learned from serving those who had experienced a loss. There are many different types of stress that surface within the funeral home setting.
