ABSTRACT
Living in a loving home can make all the difference in any child’s life. If that place happens to be the funeral home, then most children will have very few problems in adapting to the structured atmosphere when death calls come. Children reflect what they see and hear from their parents. Children who live in a funeral home have a lot of insight concerning death. Children at an early age have developed a thinking process that is very concrete. They see only black and white, a very literal approach, and do not see shades of difference. During the busy days at the funeral home, there were innumerable tasks to be accomplished. These jobs were often assigned to the children. Outside, the lawn had to be mowed, and the front steps needed to be swept free of leaves or debris. The sidewalks had to be cleaned in the summertime and snow shoveled in the winter time.
