ABSTRACT

Through years of experience with helping to carry out the mandates of its UN clients, United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) has developed a unique hands-on expertise in project implementation. When and where appropriate, UNOPS will also draw the attention of its clients to lessons learned in the field, for their consideration when designing a future project or considering a change in policy. It is therefore quite natural that UNOPS demonstrates particular interest in the well-being of field personnel in crisis situations. Based on the prevailing situation in each area where UNOPS has been charged with carrying out project activities, UNOPS field personnel often formulate requests for support and propose practical solutions. UNOPS also invests in improving relevant training provided to its personnel, notably as regards the political environment in which they will operate. An increasing number of United Nations staff works in conditions that require special attention.
