ABSTRACT

Several of the author's colleagues and he were on the outskirts of the Bihac pocket, an area supposedly under protection as a UN declared safe haven which was continually under attack by Serb forces. In winter of 1994 it was in danger of falling. He wanted to try to photograph the attack as well as see if it was possible to cross into the Bosnian territory. Serb forces in the Kraijina, a part of Croatia held by Serbs, were attacking in concert with the Bosnian Serbs. A few minutes later the door burst open and two soldiers laughing hysterically doused us with cold water. The door then shut. Some hours went by and the door opened again and we were brought into the command center.
