ABSTRACT

The province authorities point out that, in order to generalize women’s education according to a certain plan as well as to meet the requirement for highly trained groups of workers, binding quotas had to be set up by year for females to be accepted at the “male” schools. The People’s Council of Warsaw has conducted a survey of women who have worked at least one year in “male” professions. A comparison was made between the work productivity of men and women who occupied similar work positions and who were doing similar tasks under technical and organizational conditions that were as nearly equal as possible. Women without qualifications represent 87 percent of the blue-collar workers employed in the socialized sector of the Polish economy. Training is a factor that makes it easier for women to be accepted in certain positions. The creation of half-day positions for women, especially for married women, has been discussed for years in Poland.
