ABSTRACT

What technical copyeditors do and how they do it is changing rapidly and

dramatically with the emergence of online methods of both production (writing

and editing) and delivery of technical materials.

Definitions of copyediting generally focus on “correcting” written material

and preparing it for publication. This emphasis obscures a range of other

contributions that copyeditors can-and should-make to the development and

publication of documents.
