ABSTRACT

In total, the “flourishing diversity” of humanitarian approaches is like the situation which took place in medieval alchemy. The growing importance of the information in comparison with the role of resources in various fields of human activity is evident. Contemporary intellectuals should be able to deal with various regularities when turning from one field of activity to another. Among various branches of the humanities, aesthetics will be the field in which the most impressive achievements of this new approach will be felt. Formalism and structuralism should be considered as belonging to the analytical L-pole, while existentialism and poststructuralism belong to the synthetical R-pole. The information paradigm is rather prospective for humanitarian studies and mainly aesthetic ones. The main goal of studies in the humanities is not to provide aesthetic pleasure, but to search for knowledge.
