ABSTRACT

In the world of astrophysical theory, there is a lot of speculation about space and time travel. If we were to think about distances in space in terms of conventional rocket travel, for example, interstellar journeys would take forever. That’s why science fiction films always invent technologies like “jump gates” or “warp drives” or speak in terms of “light speed.” Some writers expound even stranger theories about “worm-holes,” for example. These are odd places in the universe, where normal concepts of space and time do not apply. Entering those worm-holes would enable a traveler to cover distances in time previous thought inconceivable.
