ABSTRACT

On that terrible trip home from Hawaii my new friend Paulette gave me comfort and held me when I was beyond shock, beyond grief. She gave me the connection to Dick that I needed so desperately. In the months since January, Paulette had become very dear to me. We kept in touch by phone and soon we began talking about a future visit. Much to my surprise, Paulette announced that she would drive up from Ohio in June with her friend Laura, the woman who had told me that Dick died of an aneurysm.
