An Assessment of Unionization in the Armed Forces

In mid-1975 plans of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFL-CIO) to study an organizational campaign in the military were first made public. Although the union did not initially commit itself to signing up military members, the announcement has sparked a lively debate over the issues. Opinion polls have been taken inside and outside the military. Bills have been introduced in Congress to forbid unionization of armed forces personnel.
