ABSTRACT

20Emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) separation technique is found to be an efficient methodology for the extraction of complex textile dyes from industrial wastewater. Various key parameters need to be studied for the high selectivity and stability of the membrane for extraction process. In this study, we report the extraction of Acid Red 1 (AR) dye using ELM. The membrane prepared was found to have nanometric dimensions. The concentration of dye solution was measured using UV-visible spectrophotometer. Effects of operating parameters such as membrane synthesis methods, contact time, surfactant concentration, types of internal phase, etc. were studied in detail. The method is found to be efficient in successful removal of dye from the aqueous solution.
