ABSTRACT
272Shell and tube heat exchangers are used extensively throughout the process industry. The inlet conditions of the fluids on the shell side or on the tube side have an impact on the working of the heat exchanger. Designers and engineers study the sensitivity analysis to understand and control the system for the various effects of operating and geometric parameters. In this chapter, the sensitivity of outlet parameters like the hot water outlet temperature and enthalpy, overall heat transfer coefficient, and heat duty to the various inlet parameters are studied using CHEMCAD. Thus, the values of different outlet operating parameters can be known, as the inlet operating parameters are changed.
