ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in this book. The book presents a thought experiment about whether or not romantic/erotic love moves people to act justly. Love can have moral weight, and it can do some heavy lifting. In each series, love moves the female protagonist to rebel against an authoritative structure that seeks to control the general population under the guise of protection and the betterment of a society. Paranormal romances, and especially romances featuring fallen angels, call attention to how young people exist as war fodder in adult bids for power and to how young lovers rebel against and overthrow power structures. The Paradise Lost intertextual back story casts the fallen angel as always already a rebel warrior, so the female protagonist loves but also fears her fallen angel beloved and fears for the safety of her beloved, herself, and the world at large.
