ABSTRACT

It is relatively easy for competition to imitate the tangible aspects of the product and service offerings of a hospitality organization. With this conver- gence of the tangibles, the key to success lies in the intangibles, that is, the human capital of an organization. Therefore, the ability of an organiza- tion to differentiate itself on the basis of its talent pool, especially its senior management and leadership, can provide it with a consistent edge over the competition.

Effective leadership is central to organizational success. Astutely aligning leadership skills and competencies to the key requirements of the job profile is critical to capturing available growth opportunities. Thus, integrated talent management in terms of recruitment, development, and retention of senior management is one of the key challenges faced by the hospitality industry. This study aims at identifying and mapping the talent management prac- tices adopted by hospitality organizations for leadership recruitment and development.
