ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to discuss the backgrounds, styles, influences and activities of four different family groups from North-East Scotland and the Shetland Islands and two husband and wife duets. These are the Cameron Family Band from Peterhead, the Runcie Family from Fraserburgh, and two sibling groups, the Irvine Sisters from Shetland and Reality from Fraserburgh. Husband and wife duets are particularly common in North-East Scotland and the Northern Isles, and profiles of Lorna and Pat Jamieson from Shetland and Peter and Jean Drysdale from Fraserburgh feature towards the end of the chapter.
