ABSTRACT

Although theory, analysis and aesthetics are more likely to be topic areas for faculty research projects, here might be an opportunity for a win–win situation in which an undergraduate working alongside a professor shares a mutual benefit.  Other student-directed projects could focus on the way students perceive the study of music theory, how they overcome obstacles, how they respond to certain pedagogical practices, etc.  Sample projects and abstracts of both qualitative and quantitative studies will be examined.
