ABSTRACT
This chapter will explore the various facets of musical performance including background research, preparation, interpretation, artist statements/program notes, doing your best, and reflecting on the experience to inform your next performance experience. Projects such as these help students make the case that they are performing artists not just craftsmen learning a trade. A variety of case studies and sample abstracts from the United States and the United Kingdom will be outlined.
