ABSTRACT

Our second chapter on approach exploration addresses the possible suite of contexts of our system and how each of the contexts work together to serve the greater whole. We introduce this by first clarifying the most common organizational levels of a system, and use this understanding to allow us to be more precise in our consideration of context as a source of inspiration.

Then, we discuss ecosystems in general and how contexts can be orchestrated together. We leverage our understanding of our user’s postures to explore possible contexts, determine a set of successful approaches, and expose our ideas through the creation of ecosystem diagrams.

To aid the exploratory process, we look at different ways of organizing our system, and test the effectiveness of each through our primary use case. We consider the concept of friction as well as how the structure of our system can impact more than just the interface itself: It can affect how our entire business is organized.

We address how to ultimately communicate the structure of our system through the framework of the structure map, and how it manifests itself in terms of the experience of our users through a refinement of our blob scenario.
