ABSTRACT

Based on the complex interdependence approach, this chapter presents a picture of bilateral relations between Poland and China. By describing the motivations from both sides, the author presents their views and vision embodied in practical cooperation. The chapter discusses the issue of bilateral relations placed in a more broadened historical and geopolitical context. The major point of reference is the Chinese proposal of "One Belt, One Road" (OBOR) and its dimensions in the Eurasian continent. The chapter also describes the economic relations and analyzes the new context of regional cooperation in bilateral relations. The core three issues are analyzed, through discourse analysis, with particular emphases of: the historical and political dimensions of cooperation; the expectations and perceptions of each sides with regards to their individual roles in bilateral and multipolar relations; and finally indicating the role of local governments in bilateral relations.
