ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an insight in to the major achievements of Sino-Hungarian cooperation and the impact of the 16+1 and "One Belt, One Road" (OBOR), projects on bilateral ties. Hungarian governments have been pursuing trade and investment cooperation with China since 2003, and good political relations are understood as an important tool and foundation of economic relations. The chapter focuses on almost 200 documents of China related anti-dumping measure (ADM) proceedings, requested and received from the Council of the EU. According to certain concerns, China might play the card of CEE member states like Hungary, against the unity of the EU, offering economic benefits in exchange for political favours. The timeframe of the chapter explains the period between 2005 and 2013, in order to cover both before and after the birth of the 16+1 Cooperation. Beijing is considered as an important partner to Hungary.
