ABSTRACT

Sometimes, when an illness or injury is not healing and a person is dying, the person may be able to go home instead of staying in a hospital. Nurses and medical people may visit the dying person at his or her home to give medicine or other medical care. This care is called “hospice.” Hospice care is not given to help an illness or injury heal. It is given to help the dying person feel more comfortable, especially if the person is very sick or is feeling pain. There are also special hospice buildings where dying people may get hospice care.
