ABSTRACT

Work design problems cannot be solved by using techniques concerned only with the analysis of what a man is doing at work, work system interrelations must also be considered. The main objectives of ergonomics design are work fulfillment by man and the working conditions for the man. In any work system the most important areas or partial functions are effecting, controlling and monitoring. Technological design selects the type of technique and fixes the basis for production capacity and general working conditions. Technical development and work design efforts by engineers can be classified in relation to man as follows: Amplifying man's capacities; supplementing man's attributes and capabilities; removal of man's work load; replacement of man's working inset. By organizational design is meant the job partition between man and man. From the study of jobs on real professional work places one may deduce specific work contents or types of tasks out of the infinity of possible human tasks.
