ABSTRACT

An audience is an indispensable part of communication. Probably, a general audience would have greater initial interest in antique cars. The demographic consideration of the audience has to do with their vital statistics: age, education, beliefs, income, special interests, and so on. Perhaps the greatest advantage to dealing with a favorable audience is that they are usually both supportive and attentive. One successful speech to an indifferent audience was given by Erik Jackson, a second-year photography student. By explaining about camera angle, posing, and picture balance, Erik demonstrated to his audience that with little imagination they could take pictures that were more interesting. In addition to understanding the importance of taking the audiences' diverse views into account, it is equally important to realize that all listeners, and people, share a general system of needs. Physical well-being, safety and security, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization are all vital in what the psychologist Abraham H. Maslow described as hierarchy of needs.
