ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the concepts covered in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on community activation, via different integral perspectives portrayed through integral rhythm. The relational path of community activation focuses GENE-tically on: livelihoods (G); natural/communal value (E); social capital (N); and common ownership (E). It discusses grounding and origination of the collective 'southern' (S) relational path, which occupies pride of relational place, the pre-emphasis here being securing livelihoods. Indeed, each part of the integral rhythm contains, the whole GENE. The book presents local grounding (G), the major pre-emphasis, and then proceeds through local-global emergence (E), global navigation (N) and global-local effect (E), via Chinyika in Zimbabwe, albeit that Community activation remains primary (Care), albeit in integral (CARE) guise. Following an overall 'southern' relational path through the communal activation, it pursues an integral rhythm or trajectory through local grounding and origination, a local-global emergent foundation, a newly global emancipation, and ultimately a global-local effect.
