ABSTRACT

This chapter offers Elise Hu's encouragement and wisdom about the path to being a reporter, a broadcaster, an editor or a media professional. Hu likes to write about any interesting topic, and the news is constantly changing so she thinks it would be very interesting to write about. There is so much to discover and try to understand about the world and communities and people dissimilar from journalists. Today she covers geopolitics, which she guesses one can call political news on global scale. And she gets to do it from a country that was foreign to her even as a tourist: South Korea. And she does it because in a lot of ways she knows nothing else. This was less of a conscious choice than something she knew from when she was four feet tall that she would do. Being a news reporter is a window to all of that, with the added benefit of getting paid along the way.
