ABSTRACT

This chapter offers three powerful tools: facilitation roadmap, content facilitation grid and facilitation questions. The facilitation roadmap tool focuses on honing in on an individual student's state of mind and providing just the right support at the right time. The content facilitation grid is a spreadsheet-type grid that includes students' names down the side and content skills and concepts across the top. Use the content facilitation grid as well to capture formative assessment data from quizzes; tests; and individual, in-class assignments. The Learner-Active, Technology-Infused Classroom offers students many structures for managing the process of learning, including the analytic rubric, activity list, schedule, help board, peer expert board, quality work board, and more. Formative assessments can be classified as follows: temperature gauges, breakpoints, student-directed assessments, and comprehensive assessments. The task management grid and the content facilitation grid enable teacher to easily track and analyze assessment data.
