ABSTRACT

Children who develop positive and healthy social relationships derive life-long benefits. Parents and teachers can foster this social development by using a framework, inspired by research-based principles, called “Teach, Model, Facilitate.” With this framework, the adults can address some contemporary obstacles to healthy social development in children, such as the excessive use of technology, the reduction in dedicated play time, and the stresses connected to academic success. Practical tools are provided in this chapter to guide the process.
