ABSTRACT
This chapter provides some examples of texts of various types translated into Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish. The text types include fiction, business, administration, tourism, cookery, science and technology. Two different texts are translated into each language. Each source text (ST) is followed by the respective target text (TT). Each TT is accompanied by a set of comments by the translator, showing how the task has been approached and managed. The translated texts and annotations can be used for standard translation practice. The chapter points out that the TTs are not intended to be the ultimate or perfect translation of the ST, rather just one version produced by a professional translator. It presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The chapter focuses on a journey through a varied landscape of texts, ideas and opinions, theories, practical exercises and examples of translations by professionals.
