ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the background of related research fields and clarifies the motivation to use cyclic aromatic triamide scaffolds. It shows the recent successful examples where the achiral and chiral arrangement of chromophores is furnished. p-Conjugated molecules play an important role in various optoelectronic devices, including light-emitting diodes (LEDs), field-effect transistors (FETs), and solar cells (SCs). The chapter deals with the precision spatial arrangement of p-conjugated chromophores based on the characteristic of cyclic aromatic triamide. The introduction surveys the importance of the controlled 3D arrangement of chromophores, the potential utility of cyclic oligomers with well-defined architectures as the template unit, and the stereochemistry of aromatic tertiary amide along with the characteristic of cyclic aromatic triamide. The systematic investigation on the conformation of molecules and the optical properties of p-conjugated moieties gave valuable information for the achiral and chiral arrangement of various chromophores.
