ABSTRACT

Once a specific concept with which to move forward has been selected, the specifics of the design that will be produced must be determined. There are alternative means by which this can be accomplished, with quality function deployment (QFD) as a commonly used approach (Akao and Mazur, 2003). Residing at the heart of QFD is the house of quality (HOQ), its principle tool (Hauser, 1993). QFD discussion herein is limited to a basic level, and the interested reader seeking a more nuanced discussion is referred to the outstanding work by Xie, Goh, and Tan (2003).
