ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its applications in the sport industry. Emerging body of literature has focused on CSR initiatives in professional sports. This chapter focuses on CSR initiatives that were successfully implemented by U.S. professional sport leagues. Next, an overview and assessment of Korean professional sports’ CSR efforts are discussed. The authors make feasible suggestions for CSR initiatives in Korean professional sport leagues within the context of its current structure and development.
