ABSTRACT

Flexible work programs. Job sharing. Working from home. Flex start times. These are all wonderfully intentioned policies that the workforce, young and old, increasingly wants. Many policies-written and implied-are in play across different industry sectors, in companies small and large throughout the country. But many have no such policies. And in some cases, as with Yahoo, flexible work options are being retracted

because they’ve gotten out of hand and impacted performance and profitability, or at least the perception of performance and profitability.
