ABSTRACT

Carson, where photographers snapped photos of smiling children holding up their iPads, thrilled about future opportunities.

Within three days, district efforts were derailed, as kids, curious and technologically savvy, broke through the software filter meant to keep them “safe.” The program came to a grinding halt, the press had a field day, and the administrators of the program scrambled to do damage control with the public. But it was too late; the project was doomed and never recovered.
