In 2007, the number of accounts registered for this new technology doubled to two million users within a single eight-week period. The excitement was tangible. This was the future, no doubt about it. Businesses and corporations began to line up to establish a presence on this platform of the future. This was where personal relationships would be developed, commerce transacted, brands promoted. The message was clear: if, as a marketer, you weren’t there with a full marketing presence, you would undoubtedly be left behind.
