ABSTRACT

One reason so many lawyers are unhappy is that it is easy to go to law school for the wrong reasons. Getting a J.D. is so expensive, and the law profession so insular, that walking away when they realize that law practice is not (or no longer) right for them can feel like an impossibility. Another reason for lawyers’ dissatisfaction is that the legal profession has changed. It is more intensely competitive and less stable than ever before.
