ABSTRACT
For some ex-lawyers, the right professional path leads them to work with their hands. Some lawyers become professional chefs or interior designers. Others become woodworkers or jewelers. The transition from law to creative production may be the hardest kind, because in some ways it represents a shift from left-brain to right-brain thinking. It tends to invite more disbelief, and perhaps more respect, than other transitions. It also introduces an element of physical work that most lawyers never enjoy. While all of the former lawyers profiled in this section use their analytical skills to further their businesses, their working lives focus more on designing and creating than on linear thinking.
