ABSTRACT
I am very pleased that the symposium in October 2013 commemorat-ing the thirtieth anniversary of the Takemi Program was a great success. The same year (2013) was also a milestone for the Harvard School of Public Health: the school’s one hundredth anniversary. The Takemi Symposium thus was positioned as part of a series of celebratory events.
