ABSTRACT

Jeanine, a successful business owner of three shoe stores in a tri-city area, inadvertently fell into Ego Trap 3: surrounding yourself with more of you. After a longtime general manager retired from one of the stores,

Jeanine-a sparky, middle-aged entrepreneur with a gift for sales-took

replacing the person very seriously. The role of general manager was vital

to the success of her company: it involved managing part-time employees

and their weekly schedules; coordinating directly with Jeanine on inven-

tory and accounting; ensuring high-quality customer service; and man-

aging many other tasks that kept the stores running smoothly on a daily

basis. This was a make-or-break decision for Jeanine.
