ABSTRACT

So, we’ll begin at the beginning and walk through the stages of a search. Just for fun, let’s talk about the mistakes CIOs sometimes make during each phase and what they might do to correct them. But before we get started, I would like to be clear that many of my firm’s clients (you know who you are) have fabulous, e®cient, first-rate recruiting processes. They launch searches which, despite the inherent challenge of recruiting people with technical, communication, business, and leadership skills, are successful. These CIOs have figured out what so many still need to understand: recruiting is one of the most important activities you can perform for your company. The process deserves as much time and attention as anything else you do.
