ABSTRACT

I suspect you’ve understood by now that I want you to be keenly aware of two things: how critical it is for you to become a skilled and fluent acquirer of new knowledge and skills in order to succeed in this century, and how deeply we can each resist the necessary “novice” state that accompanies any truly new learning. However, I don’t want to you to be overly demoralized by this, because there are some qualities built into us humans that help to make these truths less daunting. The most important one: we may hate being bad at things, but we love to get good at them.
