ABSTRACT

Mentoring is a fundamental part of the personal development and career growth, whether communicators are first starting out or they are a veteran in their industry. Communicators have to be the one to always sharpen your own skills (get mentored) and then apply what they have learned to become a mentor. Some professionals have a natural gift and it is their unspoken actions that demonstrate their natural knack for mentoring, without ever having to pursue a mentee. This chapter presents the questions and answers (Q&A) that help communicators to decide when it is time to mentor so they can share the stories/lessons they feel are valuable, when they decide it is time. The Q&A in the chapter are all the most frequently asked questions from author's mentees over the years in an effort to understand the best ways to approach their career growth. The chapter offers a different type of mentoring test.
