ABSTRACT
One of the most dramatic of all the biblical stories painted and repainted by artists over the centuries is called, "On the Road to Damascus." Taken from an episode in the New Testament, the painting is usually characterized by great contrasts: a brilliant flash oflight against a brooding dark sky.
