ABSTRACT

In the fall and again in the spring, if we are out in the open, we are apt to hear an occasional faint, familiar call which turns our attention skyward to note the passage of migrating fowl. The V-shaped formations of ducks and geese pierce the airways as these wild creatures wend their long way to their seasonal homes. As winter approaches, the V will point southward. Half a year later, as winter ends, the birds return north to their summer abodes.
