ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book describes two of the challenges that globalization presents for the current world. It shows the focus of the world's MNEs on China in this most recent period of globalization in terms of a production sight to produce exports, a source of resources that MNEs need in their production process and as a location to increase sales of their products. In fact, even in some of the successful developing countries in the era of globalization, a significant portion of the population has not benefited and live in poverty. Along the way, it has become clear that the issue of rising inequality must also be addressed if globalization is to thrive or even survive. As Pahre argues, global war, not domestic backlash brought an end to the first era of globalization.
