ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book addresses 10 main goals which are concerned in the development, introduction, and use of information and communications technology (ICT). ICT should contribute to the deepening and development of true human qualities and be used to provide time for people to develop themselves as human beings. The book illustrates the effects on humans of ICT, and also what a Good ICT Society might look like in the future. It also addresses the larger context of the convergence model and mentions that individuals are affected by ICT in many ways: their "life environments", "life roles", and through "globalization". The introduction of "virtual reality" will have impacts on these arenas and add a new sphere of ICT influence on human beings. Human beings can also influence these areas included the new virtual reality.
