ABSTRACT

A waitress approached me at a local deli and mentioned that I appeared very depressed. “I am,” I told her. “Please bring me some scrambled eggs and a kind word.” When she returned with the scrambled eggs, I asked her about the kind word. “Don’t eat the eggs!” she quipped (Elinsky, 2002, p. 27). We believe people need lots of kind words on their “change” journey. It is hard to imagine that there could be melancholy when for so many years we have dreamed of a life less frenzied, evenings at home, and uninterrupted weekends.
