ABSTRACT

As an officer, you are subject to the shocks and injuries to mind, body, and soul that threaten to snatch what you are meant to be. Resilience is often spoken of “as-if” it is just learned behavior or a switch one can leverage as a state of mind. It is not! Resilience in its most basic foundation is a process born in experience. Being born in experience-meaning resilience is only hatched in the process of being humane. The popular version is one can learn to be resilient by studying a guide. This too is illusion in folks who have jumped on the bandwagon of opportunity and try to teach resilience without requisites in experience/training in the field of life as a public safety officer.
